DESCRIPTION

When we think about the core, we tend to visualize the evasive 6 pack of abs, but core means deep, and the depth of our bodies constitutes more than our superficial abdominal muscles. To access these deeper muscles, we tend to need quieter movements and forms of engagement. We need the practice of mindfulness to sense where our core really exists, and we need the breath.

Join Jodi for this 90-minute workshop where core myths will be dispelled and subtle practices experienced.

"Who is This Workshop For?"

This workshop is for anyone interested in connecting with and learning about their core. You should be able to lie down on and get off the floor, either without assistance or with the assistance of a chair. Non-Binary, Women and Men welcome.

In this workshop we will:

  • Explore the connection between the pelvic floor, deep abdominal muscles, and breath.

  • Learn about the different layers of the abdomen and engage each of them.

  • Discover how posture affects the core

  • Access the core through yoga asana, breathwork, and other movement modalities.

SUGGESTED DONATION:

  • $35 (no one turned away for lack of funds)

  • A portion of donations benefits the Living Now Yoga Diversity Scholarship which supports underrepresented persons in accessing yoga teacher training. Donation info will be provided in your registration email.

TEACHER’S BIO

Jodi Epstein has been teaching yoga, mindfulness, and movement education for over 12 years. She originally became a student of yoga during her time at university after struggling for years with dance injuries, vocal fatigue, and anxiety. She found the practice to be an incredible breath, movement and mental health resource and values it as a lifelong tool.

Jodi’s early training in the Linklater and Alexander techniques was her first formal introduction to the connection between body and mind, and she credits these teachings with her ability to guide large classes and workshops. In addition to a 200 hour yoga teacher training, she has done meditation trainings with Alan Finger and Tara Brach, Thai Yoga Massage with the Lotus Palm School, a year-long anatomy intensive with Leslie Kaminoff, and Prenatal Yoga and a pelvic Floor mentorship with Julianna Mitchell. She is certified as an integrative pelvic health specialist in the Herrera Method and is currently enrolled in the Kelly Kain Pilates Kinected School.

Jodi’s classes combine unique sequencing and alignment, placing an emphasis on breath mindfulness, and the importance of discovering one’s own inner experience. For trainings, workshops, retreats and Private Sessions; Practicewithjodi.com
